Recap: NY Giants vs. Seattle
Sports Network | October 05, 2008
East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - Brandon Jacobs gashed the Seahawks defense for 136 yards and two touchdowns on just 15 carries, as the New York Giants remained perfect on the young season after a 44-6 rout of Seattle.
Eli Manning wasn't phased by the absence of star wide receiver Plaxico Burress, hitting 19-of-25 passes for 267 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Giants (4-0), who have won eight straight games dating back to last year and moved to 4-0 for the first time since 1990.
Domenik Hixon, starting in place of the suspended Burress, hauled in four balls for a career-high 102 yards and a touchdown before leaving with a head injury. Sinorice Moss added two touchdowns receptions for the defending Super Bowl champions.
Both teams were coming off bye weeks but New York's offense clicked on all cylinders compared to its sluggish opponents, outgaining Seattle by a 525-187 margin.
Matt Hasselbeck completed 11-of-21 throws for a sub-par 105 yards with an interception for the Seahawks (1-3), who have been outscored 78-16 in two road tests this year.
The debuts of receivers Bobby Engram and Deion Branch failed to jump-start the Seattle offense, as Engram finished with eight grabs and 61 yards and Branch caught three for 31 before leaving early with a foot injury. Julius Jones led the ground game with 61 yards on 17 carries.
